Savile Row in Paris
An Entente Cordiale between French Haute Couture and British Bespoke Tailoring was celebrated by a sparkling cocktail reception at the British Ambassador's Residence in Paris on the 5th of July 2007 in honour of Savile Row.
Co-hosted by British Ambassador Sir Peter Westmacott and Monsieur Didier Grumbach, President of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, Savile Row's evening in Paris was marked by an exhibition of bespoke evening dress cut especially for the event as well as pieces from the master tailors' archives linking the history of Savile Row with that of the British Embassy and the city of Paris. The exhibition was curated by James Sherwood.
