Savile Row in Tokyo
March 2008: Savile Row at the British Ambassador's Residence, Tokyo, is the third chapter of The London Cut exhibition held in a setting as prestigious as the Florence and Paris shows. The event was co-hosted by Ambassador Sir Graham and Lady Fry and Savile Row Bespoke. The charm and intimacy of the Ambassador's Residence bought the invited audience into more immediate contact with the bespoke pieces and archives displayed compared to the palatial interiors of Palazzo Pitti and the Paris Residence. The art direction - commissioned by curator James Sherwood - from Steve Lidbury Design, literally framed the masterpieces of bespoke tailoring on display.
All the disciplines of an elegant, timeless gentleman's wardrobe were displayed: tweeds in the drawing room, evening dress in the ballroom, blazers and flannels in the Ambassador's breakfast room and City suits in the grand dining room. But each of these classics has been reconsidered by the best cutters on Savile Row for the 21st Century man.
Savile Row Bespoke would like to thank the British Ambassador Sir Graham Fry and his team for their unstinting hard work and enthusiasm for this event and also our principal sponsors:
