Centenary Year

Congratulations to Savile Row Bespoke Association (SRBA) member Welsh & Jefferies, which is celebrating its centenary year.

Incorporated in 1907, Welsh & Jefferies began trading in Eton, just outside London, where it made the distinct frock coats and breeches and ceremonial gowns for the pupils and masters, respectively, of the town’s famous Eton College.

In addition, the tailoring house also made the uniforms for the school’s military cadet force, which was and continues to be run under the auspices of the British Army. Many of Eton’s pupils have risen to the highest ranks in the British Armed Forces and achieved the highest offices of state, not least that of Prime Minister, and Welsh & Jefferies’ strong association with the school continues to this day.

The highlight of Welsh & Jefferies’ celebrations was an evening at the acclaimed Swiss watch manufacturers Jaeger-LeCoultre (pictured) on Old Bond Street, which was spent in the company of many old friends, customers, valued industry associates and members of the international press.

Addressing those present, Welsh & Jefferies owner and head cutter James Cottrell (pictured, grey suit) said: “Thank you so much to everyone for coming to our event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Welsh & Jefferies. Great thanks go to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s sponsorship, without which the event would not have been the success it is. One hundred years is not only a milestone, but a new start. We have always innovated and developed with time, combining the modern and the traditional and training young people in bespoke tailoring. And we will maintain our high quality and service for everyone in the future.”
