Evening of Craftsmanship
September 15th, 2016

Both the guests and participants enjoyed a rare and fascinating insight into the world of real artistry at the Evening of Craftsmanship on September 15th.

The invitation only black-tie event was co-hosted by the Savile Row Bespoke Association (SRBA) and its partners Pernod Ricard.

Proceedings got under way on Savile Row (top picture) where participating SRBA members Dege & Skinner, Gieves & Hawkes, Henry Poole & Co and Norton & Sons each hosted a Perrier-Jouët champagne reception for guests of Barclays Private Bank and Christie’s Auction House.

Guests were then whisked away in a fleet of Rolls-Royce cars to the splendid Spencer House for a fine three-course dining experience in the company of some of the UK’s finest exponents of craftsmanship.

Each of the participating SRBA members displayed a selection of bespoke tailoring pieces and there was a live demonstration of bespoke cutting by Dege & Skinner’s Senior Bespoke Cutter Nicholas De’Ath and the talented Coat Maker and winner of BBC3’s Young Tailor of the Year, Emma Martin.

Prior to dinner, guests also enjoyed a moderated discussion (bottom picture) about craftsmanship with Eric Musgrave acting as moderator and speakers Patrick Grant (Norton & Sons), Leonie Moschner (Senior Specialist, Post-War & Contemporary Art, Christie’s Auction House), Colin Scott (Master Blender, Chivas Regal) and Spencer Hyman (Cocoa Runners).

After dinner, Chivas Regal’s Master Blender Colin Scott hosted a whisky tasting and Cocoa Runners, the award winning chocolate club, hosted a delicious chocolate tasting.
