The English Gentleman

January 8th sees eight member houses of the Savile Row Bespoke Association joining forces with London’s finest shirt makers and hatters to present The English Gentleman at Spencer House.

The event represents Savile Row’s contribution to the British Fashion Council’s second London Collections: Men, and follows on from last summer’s hugely successful Savile Row Open Day and Savile Row meets the Burlington Arcade. The intention is to present the modern face of British men’s style to an international audience of fashion buyers and journalists while concurrently paying homage to London’s two hundred years as the undisputed capital of men’s elegance.

The event will take the form of a presentation featuring professional models and real men dressed by Savile Row’s tailors. And the clothes on show will include shooting and fishing outfits, black and white tie, lounge suits, overcoats and smoking jackets, showcasing some exquisite fabrics and Savile Row’s renowned bespoke tailoring. Seven sumptuous rooms of Spencer House, London’s preeminent private palace, will provide the stunning backdrop and all will be styled by Jo Levin, creative fashion director of British GQ. The event is being organised and co-sponsored by Anda Rowland and her remarkable team at Anderson & Sheppard.

The contributing Savile Row Bespoke Association members are Anderson & Sheppard; Dege & Skinner; Gieves & Hawkes; H Huntsman & Sons; Henry Poole & Co; Kilgour; Meyer & Mortimer and Richard James.

The exhibition is made possible by The Woolmark Company.
