Further Brexit Guidance

The United Kingdom’s scheduled date for exiting the European Union of 29th March is now only a matter of weeks away and HM Government has issued further guidance to the UK fashion and textile industry.

All importers and exporters to or from the EU are now being advised that they must register for an EORI number to continue to trade in the event of a ‘no deal’ Brexit.

HM Government states that with a ‘no deal’ Brexit companies will not be able to trade with the EU without an EORI number as their goods will be stopped at EU customs.

Having an EORI number allows companies to:

  • Trade goods into or out of the UK
  • Apply to be authorised for customs simplifications and procedures
  • Submit import and export declarations using software

Companies will need an EORI number by 11pm on the 29 March, and as it can take up to three days to be issued with one it is advised that applications are made as soon as possible.

Registering for an EORI number is very simple and can be done here.
