The Tweed Run

London’s most sartorially splendid bicycle ride returns to Savile Row on Saturday 18th April.

The Tweed Run is a two-wheeled celebration of a slower, more considered age and, of course, a cloth that is an absolute essential for Savile Row Bespoke Association (SRBA) members and, indeed, all tailoring houses.

Now in its 18th year, the ride has become something of a fixture in London’s cultural calendar, with the late and legendary street-style photographer Bill Cunningham describing it as “re-inventing the catwalk.” Hundreds of cyclists put fine tweeds, tailoring and vintage-inspired attire to the fore on a leisurely, twelve-mile journey through the capital. Naturally, Savile Row forms a part of the route.

The riders pause at intervals for refreshments, including a tea stop and a picnic, before concluding the day with a celebratory cocktail. And many make their way on traditionally built British cycles, reinforcing the event’s appreciation of craftsmanship, heritage and classic design.

For those wishing to take part, tickets for the ride are priced at £49 and are available at the official website here, where full details of the event and route can also be seen.
